2019 is the year I finally go back 'home' to Puglia in the very south of Italy to visit my family after years of not having been. It feels familiar the moment I stop off the plane and set foot on the ground. Oh, bella Italia, how have I missed you. But after all these years away, I look at the places with the eyes of a tourist rather than a local, and I can now fully appreciate the beauty of what lies in front of me. Lo and behold: the round houses by the name of 'Trulli'. The dry stone buildings with conical roof are only found in the region of Alberobello and their architecture and really thick walls help keep the blazing summer heat out.
