Kicking off the new year with a little trip to the Alps seemed like a good idea, and the little eco mountain lodge looked fabulous on their website. Oberjoch is Germany's highest mountain and ski village, situated at just under 1200m altitude. On our drive there, despite it being January, there wasn't much of winter to be seen: 13 degrees, green-ish hills and no snow. How's that for skiing? Well, I'm not a skier anyways, and spending a day at the spa was good enough for me. The next day however, we woke up to an entirely new world: temps below zero and about 30cm of snow overnight transformed the panorama into a winter wonderland. You can see the drastic change of weather in the pictures below, featuring the views from the spa. By the way: the snow mobile was the only means of transfer to and from the hotel. We had to park our car in the valley and were then driven up to the chalet.
